NORTH CERNEY CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL "ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY"
Staff and pupils at North Cerney Church of England Primary School have been celebrating their exceptional success in the Anglican inspection in March and a very successful Ofsted in January, which highlighted good teaching throughout the school and found that pupils? personal development was outstanding. Inspectors praised the care and guidance of the staff in providing an atmosphere which a pupil described as "like one big happy family."
Headteacher, Bridget Goodrich was singled out for her outstanding leadership in ensuring that the school continued to raise standards and that all pupils experienced success whatever their abilities. Teachers were found to have high expectations and pupils had a very good response to the challenging targets they were set. Children of all abilities were able to make better than expected progress and the school and staff received further praise for their success in welcoming, integrating and getting the best from children joining from other schools. One parent stated, ?I was really impressed by the amount of time both the headteacher and her staff took to really help my son; I am delighted with his progress.?
The school was also praised for its promotion and understanding of the consequences of a lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet, with its innovative solution to school dinners. ?They?re collected from the local pub and they?re SO healthy,? said one pupil, ?We?re the healthiest school in Gloucestershire!?
The commitment and contribution of the governors was described as outstanding. The chairman Simon Gale said, ?It?s quite a commitment standing as a governor for your local school, but when you are able to work with such enthusiastic staff and pupils the rewards are significant.?
Mrs Goodrich was delighted with the Inspection report, ?the inspector gave us the best reward possible for all we do when he said that he had not seen such enthusiastic children for a long time! We welcomed the findings for improvement as they already form part of our current development plan.?
