It’s that time again… time to say goodbye to our Year 6 children, time to thank the NCSA for all their hard work and in particular for what was, yet again, a superb evening at the School Barbecue and time to thank everyone who attends, works at and supports the school. Together we continue to achieve so much!
Arts week is becoming an annual event and was yet again a triumph; I thoroughly enjoyed my guided tour and was really impressed by the quality, level of effort and inventiveness of what I saw. I’m sure it was a lot of hardwork from all concerned but equally sure that everyone had a great time.
It’s been a busy year, lots of changes including some welcome hellos and some goodbyes, so as well as the usual comings and goings as families move into and out of the area I’d like to say a particular Hello to:
• Jane Burr, now well established as our new headteacher Jane is still full of energy and bursting with exciting ideas and plans for the future
• Anna Mundy, having joined at the start of this school year Anna is now very much part of the North Cerney School family
• John Thompson & Sam Wilkinson, joined the board of governors during the past year and will be helping to drive the school forward
• Warwick Heathcote our new Vicar and Governor
Goodbye to:
• Vicki Parrott, Lynda Dineen & Ghislaine Venn (although she has remained as a Governor), thanks to all three for their hard work and support in school
• Dianne Mold & John Flynn, who have both given of their time and energy as governors
• All the children in Year 6, I hope you have enjoyed your time at North Cerney and we all wish you well in your new schools… Good luck, have fun and keep on learning!
I said it had been a busy year and aside from all the comings and goings we have continued with the programme we started last year and I hope at last completed the refit of the school and ICT refresh with lots of new storage, new laptops and various other nice additions. Now we are ready to focus our attentions on the external space – thank you to everyone who camped out after the barbecue and made such a good start on clearing the space for our wildlife garden.
Over the next few months we hope to complete that, start work on an allotment and maybe even revisit the expensive issue of leveling the playing field. We will also be starting on some essential maintenance and updating works to the school buildings.
One of the other things we have been working on is a new, more modern and recognisable school logo together with a refresh of our school stationery and publications. I hope this will all be in place when we return after the summer.
What a year! Once again thank you to everyone who supports the school, in whatever capacity, have a lovely summer and I look forward to seeing everyone including all the new children and parents at the start of the new school year in September!
Simon Gale, Chair of Governors
