Cotswold Writers Circle Prize
One of our year 2 children, Francesca Gale (7) was awarded a highly commended prize in the recent Cotswold Wrtiers' Circle Creative Writing competition for schools.
She was one of 20 children from the 500 who entered invited to Ottakars in Gloucester for the award ceremony.
The prizes were presented by local novelist, Katie Fforde who commented 'there has been a very high standard. I am always impressed by children's writing - it is so fresh'. She told the children ' when reading what has been written by children I expect to find fun, I expect to find humour and I expect to find silliness. But I also found great wisdom'.
Francesca wrote a piece about her baby cousin Callie, called The Senses of Babies and was given a book to write down all her special thoughts. Katie signed the book with a personal comment.
The picture shows Francesca receiving her prize from novelist Katie Fforde and two members of the CWC committee Una Dowding and Tony Stowell.
