Our new website - developing with our children

"They come this way only once so we should litter their pathways with quality experiences"

North Cerney is a small school that values standards and achievements.
We see our size as our strength. The small class sizes and award winning staff mean we can provide a challenging and supportive environment where each child progresses at their own pace and achieves their full potential.

The broad and rich curriculum that we offer is delivered with creativity and innovation to engage and excite all age groups.
By using a range of learning methods, including interactive white boards in each classroom and incorporating ICT into the wider curriculum we encourage our children to enjoy the learning process, develop self-esteem and achieve their own successes.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here and every one of the individual achievements. The children are supported in all that they do by dedicated staff, governors, parents and members of the village community. This interaction encourages them to understand and enjoy the environment and the community in which they live and learn.
This ethos is being extended into lunchtime. With our hot lunches being freshly prepared by the Bathurst Arms we have made this time a more communal and meaningful experience for everyone. Children sit down together, with members of staff and say grace before being served fresh, healthy meals. This dining experience has also been shared with both older members of the community and parents.

Not only are we in the heart of the village but we have extensive playing fields as well. These provide plenty of opportunities for fresh air and exercise, building stamina and competitive spirit with a sense of fair play and teamwork that spills over into other every day activities.

The other play areas, both indoors and out, offer scope for imaginative play and social interaction. The new playground quickly becomes a pirates' ship or fort to be defended from the hordes. Whilst the decked platform gives a quiet area for the older children and an eating area on fine days

Traditional pastimes are also popular, like hopscotch, skipping, dressing up and, my personal favorite, the hoola hoop!!
